Thank you very much for your interests and contributions to Geochemical Journal.

We are happy to inform you of the renewal of Geochemical Journal. 

The biggest change is that Geochemical Journal will be reborn as a fully open access journal. This means that anyone in the world will be able to read and download GJ articles. We expect that more people will be able to see GJ papers than ever before.

Additionally, authors will be charged Article Processing Charge (APC) for publishing their papers. Initially, the APC will be discounted as shown in the Instructions to Authors by inheriting support from KAKENHI grant supported by JSPS and the Geochemical Society of Japan, with the aim of making GJ financially independent over the next few years. For students, we provide free APC for two years. The student authors (first and corresponding author) will claim in submission. Also, we are planning to offer various discounts such as special issues.

We will publish accepted papers as early as possible before assigned in a specific issue (please see the link on the top page). This means that the time from acceptance to publication will be several weeks to several months earlier than in the cases before 2022. 

Also, the average duration from submission to the final decision of the submitted papers is 2.5 months this year, which is relatively fast among the geoscience journals. 

Geochemical Journal has been published and sold by Terra Scientific Publishing Company for more than 20 years. The contract with Terra will be terminated at the end of this year, and Geochemical Journal will be published by the Geochemical Society of Japan using J-Stage from January 2022. J-STAGE is an electronic journal platform for science and technology information in Japan, developed and managed by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Terra Scientific Publishing Company for their full cooperation so far. 

We will outsource the work of formatting, file preparation, and uploading the files to J-Stage to the Nakanishi Printing Company, Ltd. The new layout of the papers was prepared with the persons in charge in the Nakanishi Printing Company, Ltd. 

The annual membership fee of the Geochemical Society of Japan is 10,000 yen, and less APC is charged for members of GSJ. Therefore, the authors can take advantage of this opportunity to become a member.
